踊り
長い間、中近東の文化ではベリーダンスは結婚式や人の誕生、祭りなどを祝う手段として踊られてきました。音楽と踊りはこの他の人々にとって喜びや幸せを表す大切なものです。
アール・ファラー エジプトでの結婚の祝い
世界中で古代エジプト人が初めて結婚を合法にしました。この時のファラオの時代から披露宴ではそのまま変わらず歌と踊りで来客とともにいわわれてきました。エジプトでは結婚式は幸福で楽しい行事です。
アール・ザッファ 結婚式の行列
ザッファとは音楽隊と踊り子達が花嫁と花婿を結婚会場に案内する行列のことです。伝統的な結婚の歌を歌いながら、花嫁と花婿、そして来客と音楽隊と踊り子達がゆっくりと結婚会場に向かって行きます。なりひびくホルンの音と、うちなるドラムとタンバリンの音が空気をうめつくし、女性たちは「ザガリート」とよばれる歓喜の声をあげます。行列の参加者たちは長い飾りの着いたろうそくを持ちながら新郎新婦に付き添います。２０世紀からは「シャマダン・ダンス」（英語では「candelabra」）がエジプトのザッファ行列に加わるようになりました。
アール・ザッファの後：ベリーダンスのエンターティンメント
他に結婚の祝いに欠かせないのはエンターティンメントです。今日でもエジプトでは結婚式のためにベリーダンサーを雇うのが習慣となっています。結婚会場に入ってから、新郎と新婦は席につき、特別な飲み物を飲みます。音楽と踊りは続き、ベリーダンサーが結婚披露宴のために舞います。ダンサーはその後、新郎と新婦の所に行き、踊ろうと誘い、二人を一緒に踊らせようとします。新郎新婦の踊りが終わってから、ベリーダンサーは新郎新婦と来客を楽しませるために、シャマダン・ダンスのソロを踊ることもあります。
Dance
For centuries, belly dancing in Middle Eastern societies has
been a way of celebrating special occasions such as weddings,
births and festivals. Music and dance are an important part
of these cultures bringing people together to express happiness
and joy.
Al Farah Wedding Celebrations in Egypt
It was the people of Ancient Egypt that were the first to legalize
marriage and since this time of the Pharaohs, the reception
has remained almost the same, with the guests rejoicing in
song and dance. In Egypt, weddings are joyful, spectacular,
exuberant events.
Al Zaffa
The Zaffa is a procession of musicians and dancers leading
the bride and groom to the wedding hall. Singing traditional
wedding songs, the bride and groom, the guests and the musicians
and dancers, slowly make their way to the wedding hall. The
sounds of blaring horns, beating drums and tambourines fill
the air and female guests yell out joyful trills called zaghareets
along with the music. Members of the procession escort the
couple holding long, decorated wedding candles. Beginning
in the 20th century, Shemadan or candelabra dancing became
a part of the Egyptian zaffa as part of the procession.
After the Zaffa: The Belly Dancer
Another important part of the celebration is the entertainment.
In Egypt today It is still the custom to hire a belly dancer
for a wedding. After entering the wedding hall, the couple
takes their seat and have a special wedding drink. The music
and dancing continue and the belly dancer invites the bride
and groom to dance and then encourages the couple to dance
together. The dancer may then also do a solo candelabra dance
to
entertain the couples and their guests.
